At the Milwaukee Athletic Club, we rarely use the word “networking” simply because we don’t need to—it’s an innate part of the culture and community our members have created. MAC members know their club is a very special place when it comes to establishing meaningful connections with interesting and successful people.
You’ll find a culture here that thrives on connecting–not solicitation–which is the way our members like it. “It’s the type of place where anyone can ask for your business card, but you would never offer it,” says Joe Kurth, Chief Operating Officer for the MAC.
As a member of the MAC, you enjoy almost limitless opportunities to meet people and learn from some of Wisconsin’s top business leaders. You can sign up for the business roundtable series which covers all sorts of topics, from commercial real estate to finance to executive leadership. These regular events and speakers bring together Milwaukee’s leaders in various fields with the expressed intent of sharing knowledge and expertise with fellow MAC members.
With a convenient (and beautiful) downtown location and complimentary parking, the MAC is the perfect home away from home for people who do work remotely. Many members have achieved a healthier work-life balance through their days at the club. Imagine a routine where you have parking included, are able to get work done via the WiFi network, have a breakfast meeting, work a little more, and then enjoy a salad on The Roof for lunch.
And when you’ve had enough work for the day, you can make your way to happy hour in the Elephant Room. Then, if you’re still looking for more interaction, you can enjoy dinner by Chef Tom’s culinary team and finish the day at a club social event. Where else can you spend a full day of meetings, meals and activities all under one roof?
Smart business leaders are also taking advantage of the MAC Offices, leasable working spaces conveniently located on the 2nd floor next to the Club Lounge. The MAC Offices include concierge services and on-demand dining and catering. Tenants also have access to three separate boardrooms and a coworking lounge.
The Milwaukee Athletic Club is filled with high-achieving people, but all work and no play does not match the club’s inclusive mentality. People join the the MAC for the wonderful social connections and access to outstanding amenities. The club was fully renovated and reopened in 2022. The MAC now sparkles with offerings for the entire family, including programming for kids and the MAC Kids Club for onsite two-hour windows.
A clear mind is a strong mind for business, and members rely on the MAC’s gym, sauna, pool, fitness classes, golf suites, and more to keep their brains and bodies in good working order.
For members who love the MAC for the ability to help make connections, the cherry on top is the reciprocity you get to enjoy at other clubs when traveling to other cities (membership means access to more than 100 premier clubs worldwide!)
When it comes to growing professionally, MAC membership offers an experience that can’t be duplicated. Our members come from all types of industries, backgrounds, and demographics. There is a natural exchange of information happening all over the club every single day. It’s the type of place where you can gain a mentor–or a mentee–without much effort at all.
So many of the MAC’s long-term members have experienced amazing success in their careers and are willing to share their knowledge in an environment that discourages the types of solicitation that can sometimes make you feel uncomfortable.
“After you leave college, where can you find the transfer of knowledge where no one is selling to you?” Kurth says. “This multi-generational and inter-industry knowledge transfer is a rising tide that lifts all ships. And the ships are all of us sailing together into a bright future at the MAC.”
