The Perks of a Family Membership to The MAC

As a parent, you know the time you have together as a family is a gift. You want to maximize it, spend it doing things you truly enjoy, and create memories that live in your children’s minds forever. With so many screen activities vying for our kids’ attention these days, it is more challenging than ever to do this. However, if these are your goals, joining the Milwaukee Athletic Club (The MAC) as a family is a great way to simplify and enhance the idea of quality family time.

Tons of Families to Connect With

The MAC has been a Milwaukee landmark for more than a century. But don’t think of it as a place resting on former accolades. The MAC recently completed a $70 million renovation to make the club the premier downtown destination for members and families to gather and connect.

“We’re growing fast, and it’s a much younger demographic than we’ve had historically,” says Director of Membership and Events, Thomas Hughes. There are more families at The MAC than ever before, and now all memberships have been redesigned so that anyone who joins receives a membership that includes their entire family.

Activities for Everyone

The renovation was done specifically with families in mind. There’s a new Kids Club and daycare that is available so you can drop the kids off while you work out or sneak away to The Roof or The Elephant Room for happy hour. Wanda, who oversees the Kids Club, has decades of experience working with kids and is a whiz at creating arts and crafts activities and fun games. You may find it’s hard to get the kids to want to leave!

Programming has been added with kids in mind throughout the club, so it’s easy to fill up your social calendar with events that people of all ages will look forward to. You can get your kids into golf (no matter what the season) by taking advantage of the state-of-the-art golf suites that members have access to.

Enjoy catered birthday party fun with a soccer outing and other activities in the suites for every day or special event party bookings. Help your kids become strong, confident swimmers by enrolling them in lessons in the pool, or learn pickleball and upgrade basketball skills in The MAC gym.  

Fun family outings are also easier with a MAC membership. Your family can be part of MAC Boat and enjoy pontoon rides during the summer. You can take part in MAC Beach and spend days relaxing lakeside at Bradford Beach and playing games like spikeball and volleyball. Another option is MAC Gives Back, where you can engage with various philanthropic and community-building activities organized by the club throughout the year.

Plus, MAC’s central location, easy free downtown member parking, and free member club shuttles to downtown arts events and athletics games make the club the perfect place to start and end a night out with your family in the city.

Memorable Moments

So many of our strongest childhood memories revolve around holidays and the special traditions we associate with them. You can give your kids this experience at The MAC with events like the Santa Brunch, the Gingerbread Party, and the Halloween Hullabaloo. You can make it your tradition to watch fireworks from The Roof each July, or celebrate Easter or Mother’s Day with a special brunch outing each year. Another favorite is the annual Father-Daughter Dance.

We think it’s a very telling stat that 40% of our new members come as referrals from other members. This shows just how much young families are enjoying the new MAC and are wanting to share it with their friends.
