There is something for everyone at the new MAC, but don’t take our word for it. While it has long been known for its athletics and amenities, the growing, diverse membership base has amplified its social and networking opportunities for families and professionals. And thanks to Chef Tom McGinty, the rooftop is quickly becoming everyone’s favorite place to dine. These new members share what they are loving about the MAC lately.
Steve and Beth Ryan
Steve and his wife Beth own RyTech, a digital marketing agency. They were members of the University Club for 12 years before joining the MAC in February and say that they felt at home right away. While they live in Chicago, Steve and Beth have a team of 10 people in Milwaukee, so they are in town a couple of times a month for work. After researching area clubs and touring, they were enticed by the networking and client entertainment opportunities at the MAC.
They have had fun in the Golf Suite simulators with their kids (10-year-old twins Kate and Genevieve, and 7-year-old Margaret) and are looking forward to checking out the pool. Steve appreciates the overnight accommodations and the Club Lounge so he can work from where he stays when in town. “And the dedicated concierge email is a really nice perk,” he admits. “Clients have been impressed by the rooftop dining and I know it will be a value add for our business overall.”
He likes seeing familiar faces in old University Club members who have also transferred, but he is still getting used to the informality at the MAC, as jeans were not as common at the University Club. Steve says, “The benefit to any great club is that people get to know who you are and you build a sense of community – we are starting to get there at the MAC.” He hasn’t been to any events yet, but is considering working his schedule around it next time he is in Milwaukee.
The Negri Family
Phil and Amanda Negri joined the MAC in January. As the president of AMCOR, Phil works in the Club Lounge most days, works out in the gym and will join the noon pick up basketball games too. They both appreciate having a nice place to eat with their three young boys Charlie (6), Miller (4) and Jamie (2). “The carrot cake is our favorite – best I've ever had. And we always order the sweet potato fries,” says Amanda.
Phil and Amanda have also used the MAC for an ideal date night – dinner on the rooftop and shuttling over to the Fiserv Forum for a Bucks game. Amanda is looking forward to Mother's Day brunch and the rooftop music series. “The staff is really friendly and the service has been great,” she says. “For a club in the city with a lot of members it's nice that the staff wants to get to know us.”
Michelle Cox
Michelle Cox, executive business and leadership coach, joined the MAC four years ago and most appreciates the social aspects of the club. Find her at the events, on the rooftop or in the Elephant Room. She loves Boxing Night, MAC Flight Club, bourbon tastings, wine dinners, the Annual Gala and more. “I also lead a Business Roundtable for leadership and personal development. I love the variety of events the club offers,” Michelle admits.
She has yet to take advantage of the Golf Suites, though. “It’s on my agenda for this year because I sure need some help with my game!” she says.
Michelle is utilizing the MAC to find true balance between work, wellness and social opportunities. She has benefitted not only from new business opportunities, but also key learnings to enhance how she serves her clients. “I’ve developed some fantastic friendships at the club. I never expected to meet and grow some of my closest friendships that I’m incredibly grateful for,” says Michelle.
